Ivar Forkenbeard gathers a small group of dwarves, including the weaponsmith Yspadadden. They are accompanied by old friends Sho Rembo and Eggo and the berserkers Yog the Beast and Eric Psychoson. He returns to the mountainous region to the west of the Wood of Itaen that he visited with Grettir just over a year previously (A21), and casts about to find the abandoned dwarf workings they’d found there. This time they find the entrance to a deeper mine-working.
Following the passages down they find the lair of a great white wyrm. With no further ado the warlike dwarves throw themselves upon the white dragon, withstanding its icy breath and hacking into it with their dwarf-wrought blades – for a dwarf truly hates a dragon. The rest of the party is no less eager – Yog the Beast’s flaming Muspell sword deals particularly savage wounds to its icy flesh. Soon the dragon is but a warming corpse upon a huge pile of loot.
On disbursing the treasure to all there, Ivar announces his intention to revive the fortunes of this place and resettle it with his folk. All the dwarves there announce their intent to join him. So Ivar Forkenbeard becomes the Hren of Ringrond. Yspadadden becomes the resident weaponsmith and sets up his forge there.
