Ubaron has long been a devotee of Isis. He is invited by Cassandra, the High Priestess of Isis in Chittagong to take his Eternal Vows, which will make him the Chosen of Isis – much as Grettir is to Osiris and Wilf to Mitra. He agrees and undertakes various ceremonies including receiving a tatoo of a chain upon his wrist. Finally he is given a task to complete by the Priestess. She bids him travel to a temple of Isis on a far away island called Dorin in the South Seas, there to slay an evil wizard and free the priestess that he has enslaved. Cassandra shows him how he can travel from one sacred flame of Isis to another. This will allow him to reach Dorrin if the the flame in the temple is still alight. The only down side to this mode of travel is that it transports only flesh – no equipment or even clothing may be carried.
So Ubaron arrives in Dorin stark, bollock naked. Nevertheless, he manages to overcome various guardians both arcane and human, equipping himself as he goes. He finds the priestess, kills the wizard and teleports himself and the woman back to Chittagong. Then he returns to cause more mayhem and collect more loot. This time he sets teleport co-ordinates so that he might return more conveniently next time should the need arise.
