Salrod and Hilda undertake a long cruise in the Southern Seas. Teleporting to Kos, they purchase and crew a Tyrosian schooner named Long Heels. Much against Grettir’s advice, their intention was sail to Zongar, there to enter the cult of a minor Chaos God called Yarma, and receive the gifts he had promised them in their dreams. Salrod, and then Hilda had had these dreams ever since Salrod had chanced upon that carved jade amulet (E3 – Collateral Damage) in Zongar two years previously.
When they return some months later, both of them have strange black sigils upon their foreheads. Hilda seems to have new powers, darker eyes and a tongue stud with a black pearl. There is a hard and pitiless look in Salrod’s eyes that had not been there before and he carries a black sword of southern, hand-and-a-half, pattern called the Heart of Darkness.
